Day 3 | Inside The Arc

Day 3 | Inside The Arc

Genesis 6:7

We learn in the story of Noah and the Ark that God became very sad because people turned away from God to evil and bad things. In fact, the people couldn’t think of anything good, and this broke God’s heart. Sin is when people turn away from God and do evil things. The Bible teaches us that sin leads to death. God wanted to get rid of every person and all the creatures that He had made. He wanted the bad things to stop.

The story of Noah and the Ark also offers a wonderful promise. The Bible says that God made a promise to Noah. God told Noah to build a big boat called an ark and when the flood came He would save Noah’s family and some of the animals. After the floodwaters stopped and the earth dried up, God told Noah that his family and the animals could exit the boat. Noah built an altar to thank God for keeping them safe. When God saw what Noah had done, He promised Noah that that He would never bring a flood to kill all living creatures and destroy the whole earth again.  A promise is a guarantee that what someone says, that person will do. The sign of the promise God made with Noah is the rainbow. When we see a rainbow, we are reminded of God’s promise.

Another promise we have from God is that if we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins, and we turn from our bad and evil ways, and ask Jesus to save us, we will live forever with Him. This is the best promise ever.

Memory Verse | Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • What is sin?

  • Were people doing good things or bad things during the time of Noah?

  • Why did God send the flood?

  • Who was left after the flood?

  • What promise did God make after the flood?

  • What is the sign of God’s promise?

Dear Father, please help me to live a life that pleases you. Forgive me of my sins. Help me to remember the promises you make to me in your Word. Help me to point others to Jesus.
