Day 4 | The Call To Abram

Day 4 | The Call To Abram

Genesis 12:1-7

In Bible times many people, when traveling long distances, rode camels. Since there were no motels, they slept in tents.  One of those men was named Abram (later God changed his name to Abraham).  God told Abram to leave his home and travel to the place God would show him.

Abram loved God and obeyed Him even though he did not know where God was leading him.  The important thing was that he knew God was a good God and would lead him in a good way.

For a long time, Abram and his family traveled and lived in tents.  When Abram got to the place God told him to go to, he built an altar and worshiped God.  God is a good God!

God told Abram that He would bless him and use him to be a blessing to others.  As a matter of fact, God would bless the whole world through Abram.  The whole world includes you and me!

Abram was the father (or first) of the Jewish people.  We are so glad he obeyed God.  It was through Abram and the Jewish people that Jesus was born.  Through Jesus the whole world has been blessed.

Memory Verse | Genesis 12:3b

In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

  • What did God tell Abram to do?

  • What would you have done if you had been Abram?

  • Why do you think Abram obeyed God?

  • How did God sending Jesus bless the world?

Dear Father, thank You for being a good God who loves us.  We can trust You to do what is good and right.  Thank you for Abram and the faith he had.  He obeyed You and we are still being blessed by him.  Help us obey you as Abram did.
