Day 11 | King David
1 Samuel 16
King David is probably the most famous king of Israel; however, his journey of faith started long before he became king. When Israel was cowering at the feet of Goliath, David stepped out in faith with a few stones and a slingshot, and he took down the giant! As David was a shepherd protecting his sheep from lions and bears, he understood God’s power to rescue, as God is David’s shepherd, too.
It isn't just David who faces tremendous odds...we often find ourselves looking into an unknown future with trembling. It was no different for David to take a step of faith with God, than it is for us to step out in faith and take on the challenges in our lives. Do you ever see people in your life who display amazing courage and wonder how they do it? I wonder if you are able to see the courage in your own life as you meet the challenges of the day? Fear is normal and courage is going forward even in the presence of fear or anxiety and trusting that we do not go alone.
Think about how God is present with you and imagine how you might take another step out and trust in God to be there with you whatever the challenges may be.
Memory Verse | Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
God, it can be really hard to go forward into a future we don't know. Help us find comfort in You being beside us, as well as a support to get us moving forward. You have given us what we need to meet the challenges of life! Thank you for taking good care of us, and helping us to trust in you more!
