Day 16 | Prophecy of a Gentle Shepherd
Isaiah 40:9-11 & Psalm 23
I will never forget the Christmas when got I my first dog, “Bo.” It was love at first sight, and instantly he and I became inseparable. We would fish, hunt, chase the neighbor’s cat, and even wrestle! He knew me and I knew him. I knew every spot and blemish on his coat of fur, and he could hear my voice when I would call from a mile away. Bo had a bad habit, as all dogs do, of chasing cars. One day Bo was hit by one of the cars that he was chasing and broke his leg! This crushed me. My best friend had to go to the vet and get his leg put in a cast. When he came home he couldn’t run or walk for a while, but that was not going to stop us from our adventures! I simply picked Bo up and put him around my shoulders and walked for him until he was well enough to walk again. Truly he was one of the best presents I ever received for Christmas.
In John 10, Jesus is called the good Shepherd. Shepherds loved their sheep just like I loved my dog! They spent every moment together. When the sheep were sick, the shepherd would take care of them. When the sheep would run away, the shepherd would run after them. The shepherd would also make sure the sheep were protected from any harm.As children of God, Jesus is our great Shepherd! He loves us and cares for us more than we can ever imagine. Jesus loves us perfectly and will be there for us no matter what!
Memory Verse | John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
