Day 24 | Angels Proclaiming the Coming of Christ
Luke 2:8-14 & Hebrews 1
Have you ever been outside late at night and something scared you? The Bible teaches us that some shepherds were tending to their sheep one night long ago, and all of the sudden an angel showed up. Not only did an angel show up in that pasture but he was surrounded by a bright light and it scared the shepherds. Do you think you would have been afraid?
The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! The Savior – yes the Messiah, the Lord- has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David!”
Next thing you know, there wasn’t only one angel, there were hundreds of them! And they were singing, “Glory to God in the highest Heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors.”
When the shepherds heard this good news, they quickly ran to Bethlehem and found the baby lying in the manger, just as the angels had told them. Filled with amazement and wonder, the shepherds went all over the region, telling everyone what they had seen. Everyone who heard the shepherds’ story was astonished.
God knows how to send a birth announcement. He didn’t use Facebook or Instagram. He used angels to share the good news and to invite them to come and see Jesus. And the truth of Christmas is the same this year as it was that special night: Jesus invites you to come and see and to meet His son, Jesus. He is for all people and through Him we can know God.
Memory Verse | Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Who shared the good news with the shepherds?
What was the good news?
What did the shepherds do when they heard the good news?
What should we do when we hear the good news?
Dear God, thank you for the good news that we have a Savior. Thank you for inviting me into a relationship with You through Jesus. Help me be faithful to share this good news with many so they, too, will know and love you.
