6 Many seek favors from a ruler; everyone is the friend of a person who gives gifts!
Our generosity is a reflection of our understanding of what has been generously and freely given by Christ.
Everyone loves a generous person. When we think of someone who is generous we normally tend to think it is one who has much. You don’t have to have everything to give away something. Generous doesn’t necessarily mean wealthy. We all know those who are generous and caring and it has nothing to do with their wealth. A generous person is one who has a big heart and wants to give to others. There are so many ways to give that are not monetary.
As Christians, we should remember that we can never give more than we have already through our salvation in Jesus Christ. His blood is more than we could ever give. We should be willing to give of all we have albeit our time, our money or any other meaningful avenue we encounter.
We should give/love because He first gave/loved us and when when we do and we are showing we are Gods children. We should never give for the praises of men but for His glory only.
When I was a child for Christmas one year I had ask my parents for a pair of binoculars. I remember thinking I would be able to see everything if I had a pair of binoculars and I was so excited to receive a pair for Christmas. I can’t tell you that disappointment that I had when I realized that though I could see some things better, I still couldn’t see everything that I wanted to see!
As an adult, I’ve Often experienced frustration when I wanted to see more than God wanted me to see. Many times I want answers before God is ready to reveal them to me. God reminds me that knowing all the answers and being able to see everything is not putting my faith in Him!
We should be a generous nation, state, church and people as we seek his will for our lives each day.
