Thanksgiving and Prayer

Ephesians 1:15-16

15 Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, 16 I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly…

Central Truth

We glorify God through our faith, our love, and our prayers.

Devotional

I love to pray! One of my favorite ministries at Temple is Moms in Prayer. Praying once a week with other women for children and schools has blessed me greatly.  I have seen God answer very specific prayers. It has grown my faith.

In this passage, Paul tells the Ephesians he heard about them and their faith. He heard about their faith in Jesus and their love for each other. Through their faith and love, they were bringing glory to God.

Paul loved these people so much that he prayed for them. His love for his people motivated him to pray. He prayed because he believed it was effective, because he knew that our God hears and answers prayer. Paul did not think prayer was a waste of time. He believed God would respond, and so he prayed.

God is moved by the prayers of His people. If we neglect praying for each other, we will miss the blessings God has in store for us.

Are you continually praying for your sisters and brothers in Christ?

Today, thank God for those who have encouraged your walk with Him.

Questions To Ponder

• What does Paul tell the Ephesians he has heard about them and their faith?

• What does this cause Paul to do for the Ephesians?

“No human wisdom or understanding or plan

can stand against the Lord.

The horse is prepared for the day of battle,

but the victory belongs to the Lord.”
