The All in All
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
God our Father has dominion over all, He upholds all, and dwells in us all as Christians.
I have been blessed in my life to have a great Dad. He has taught me well and I know if I need anything I can call him and he will be there. I even have a good father in-law (my wife did not make me write this). So when I hear the song “Good Good Father” written by Chris Tomlin I have plenty of history and experiences to relate my “good” earthly father to my “good” heavenly father.
That is what we do sometimes isn’t it? We take our experiences with our dad, or maybe how we father our own kids, and use that to relate with the character of our Heavenly Father. The problem with this is that when we compare God our Heavenly Father to anyone or anything we are GREATLY limiting who our Heaven Father actually is.
In Ephesians 4:6 while it is a small verse it says a lot about who God is. First and most importantly, He is our Father. This means He is creator over all men, but also His special relationship with His church, His Children. It also says He is above all, having dominion and rule over all creatures and especially His church. Lastly, it says He is in all by dwelling in us as in His holy temple.
The relationship our Heavenly Father desires to have with us is so much more than what we could ever have with our earthly Father. Our Heavenly Father is always with us, always in control, always in charge and always our Father. He desires complete unity with us just as he has as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Questions to Ponder
Do you desire Unity with your Heavenly Father?
Are you limiting who God is?
How would viewing God as Father not just as Creator or Judge add to our Unity?
Scripture Memory | May | Ephesians 4:15
“Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.”
